Where have you travelled? Where to next? Why do you travel? We’ve been thinking about that ‘why’ lately.
A friend recently told me a short tale. It went a little like this…
'A young woman moves to a new town. She asks a stranger what the people in this town are like. Are they friendly, welcoming, kind? The stranger asks the woman what the people were like in her last town. The woman says, ‘Oh dreadful, miserable!’. The stranger tells the woman, ‘Then that is what you shall find here.'
When we are able to open our minds, souls and hearts to the world around us, the fun really begins. Travelling allows us to experience the world at her fullest. Experience her diverse and ever changing offerings. When we allow ourselves fresh eyes, we experience things like we never have before.
Travelling is unique to the traveller. Every step of every journey is unique. Every person met, view enjoyed and delicacy tasted is a unique and personal experience. Is this why we feel that sense of wanderlust? To embrace all that is new to us?
So today we ask... why do you travel?
